The ARVANTEO Aviator

A B-3 aviator cut from a single sheepskin, so the fleece that lines the body is the same hide that faces the weather — there is no seam between warmth and shell. The collar folds up and buckles closed across the throat; the hem and cuffs are finished in the same fleece. It is the warmest piece we make.

The aviator was built for open cockpits at altitude, which is why every detail is about sealing out wind: the throat latch, the deep fleece cuffs, the waist strap. We have kept all of it and changed only what the original never needed — a body length that works walking rather than sitting, and an inside pocket for a phone.

Leather has very little give, so the fit you buy is the fit you keep. If you are between sizes, check the shoulder measurement first — it is the one measurement that cannot be altered.

Store on a wide hanger with room around it — shearling needs air. Brush the fleece with a soft brush; wipe the hide with a barely damp cloth and let it dry away from heat. Never machine wash, tumble dry or apply conditioner to the fleece. Have it professionally cleaned when needed.
